Having first fallen in love with stand-up comedy when living in his native Indiana, after a friend dared him to get up on stage, Jim Gaffigan moved to New York City in 1990, in the hopes of pursuing stand-up as a career. After a decade of grafting and crafting on the New York comedy circuit, he had his big break appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman. Since then, Gaffigan has released several successful comedy specials, including Mr. Universe, Obsessed, Cinco and Noble Ape – all four of which received Grammy nominations. He also co-created and starred in the TV Land television series The Jim Gaffigan show, which is based on his life, and has had several acting roles in TV series' including That ’70s Show, Sex and the City, Third Watch, Ed and Law & Order. Gaffigan has also authored the memoir Dad Is Fat (2013) and Food: A Love Story (2014).
